Effective Employee Selection

Objective:
The participant will learn that the most important thing a manager can do is hire good people – recognizing that this is easier said than done. While hiring is not yet a science, there are things managers can do to give their organization the best chance to choose the top performers.

Process:

  1. Develop cost-effective recruiting systems
  2. Practice pre-interview preparation: creating competency requirements
  3. Identify defensible screening methods
  4. Develop questions outside predictable responses
  5. Address skills and techniques for effective communication strategies
  6. Identify behavior-based versus traditional methods of discovering past performance
  7. Choose non-discriminatory selection instruments and testing
  8. Identify defensible background checks, scoring and evaluation process
  9. Develop strategies that follow through on this process
Outcome:
The participant will be able to develop a fair and consistent employee selection process using a variety of strategies while avoiding discriminatory practices and negligent hiring, which fulfills your state-mandated duty to protect employees and visitors and to provide a safe workplace.
