For the past 12 months, I have personally been a part of the State of Ohio Task Force Committee charged with reviewing and providing recommendations for changes to the Current Drug Free Workplace Program.   For the new program we are working on, we have simplified the rules and really focused on broadening access to the program to ALL companies. This focus includes instituting new regulations that will allow companies who were already previous clients in the program to RE-START their training and see some savings again!

As the program matured in Ohio, there have been many companies who were lost to the program after its initial 5 year term limit and even more potential clients that never took advantage because they may have thought it might be too expensive to have or did not understand the complicated requirements. The new program is the chance for EVERY company to see the benefits!

I know many of your companies have had the opportunity to benefit from being in the Drug Free Workplace program in the past.   Many company’s have benefited from the safer work environments, increased productivity, Workers Compensation premium savings and even better access to contracts and jobs because they are in the program.

A couple of the highlights for this new program are the following:

• Program name is changed to Drug Free Safety Program (DFSP)
• Elimination of the 5 year participation limit and is now for “life” of company
• Reduction to just two levels of “Basic” and “Advance”
• Grant monies available along with yearly Workers Comp yearly discounts
• Kick off is this July 1, 2010
